Relational | Culturally Attuned | Emotion Focused | Trauma Informed
My clinical approach is rooted in Feminist-Multicultural, Interpersonal and Person-Centered therapy with a touch of Dialectical Behavior and Cognitive Behavioral strategies.
In simpler terms, I focus on understanding your concerns deeply and look at the cultural context in which they have developed. As a therapist I am dynamic, good-humored and creative. I will collaborate with you to find ways in which we can bring some relief to your symptoms, but we may also explore how therapy can serve you to examine your thoughts and feelings, gain insights about your distress and have interpersonal experiences that deepen your understanding of yourself, others and the world. In our conversations, please know that I acknowledge the intersections of our visible and invisible cultural identities ( e.g., racial identity, sexual orientation, gender identity, body-ability) and I invite you to share more about the parts of your Self that feel relevant as we work together. Sometimes, painful memories and feelings connected to traumatic experiences may emerge during treatment, in these moments my role as your therapist will always be to provide you with a safe and supportive space where you can start to heal from the past and build skills to live your best life today.

AREAS OF EXPERTISE
Culturally Responsive Counseling
My approach invites you to explore the role that cultural identities play in how we make sense of our experiences and of the world around us. I provide therapy from a social justice and empowerment framework that allows us to examine the effects of power, privilege and oppression in my clients' lives. Therefore, psychotherapy can be an opportunity to reflect on the ways in which your racial, gender and other aspects of identities impact well-being and your relationships.

Trauma-Informed Care
I use a strengths based framework that is grounded in an understanding of and responsiveness to the impact of T/trauma, that emphasizes physical, psychological, and emotional safety in order to create opportunities for my clients to rebuild a sense of control and empowerment in their lives. I have a background in evidence based treatments such as DBT & CBT to provide clients with helpful strategies to help manage symptoms and triggers as they work through their goals in psychotherapy.

Interpersonal Process Psychotherapy
I provide therapy that focuses on developing a deeper understanding of how we relate to ourselves and the world. Together, we explore how relationships and life events impact your mood and focus on resolving interpersonal problems and learning more about our communication style. The group psychotherapy services that I offer are interpersonal process groups.

Clinical Supervision
As an early career therapist, supervision and consultation were pivotal to my professional development. If you are a post-degree therapist pursuing licensure as a professional counselor or psychologist in Missouri or Massachusetts, I would love to discuss your unique professional goals and supervision needs.
